Click on the link below to recap or check out what we discussed in our other article about Fixed Mindset. Growth Mindset.

Let’s recap what we talked about in the last article……..

Fixed Mindset

If you’re a fixed mindset person, you have a desire to:
  • Avoid challenges
  • Give up easily
  • See effort as fruitless
  • Ignore or feel challenged by helpful negative feedback
  • Feel threatened by the success of others.

Growth Mindset

As a growth mindset person, your desires lean more toward learning, so you’ll tend to:psychology, success, personal
  • Embrace challenges
  • Persist in the face of setbacks
  • See effort as a path to mastery
  • Learn from criticism
  • Find lessons and inspiration in the success of others.
There, that’s your recap. Now we have more for you. This is your real “HOW TO”.
You learn to listen to your inner voice…..

Fixed Mindset Voice Vs Growth Mindset Voice

Listen

  • Listen for those negative, below-the-line statements you’re so good at bringing to your frontal lobe. The below-the-line comments are usually in the form of a question. For example, your voice might say, “Am I sure I can do it? Maybe I’m not good enough.” “What if I fail—I’ll be a failure”; “People will laugh at me for thinking I had talent.” “If I don’t try, I’ll need to protect myself and keep my dignity.”

The Voice Continues

  • The voice continues, especially if you hit a setback. For example, your voice might say, “This would have been a snap if I had talent.” “You see, I told you it was a risk. Now I’ve gone and shown the world how limited I am.”, “ It’s not too late to back out, make excuses, and try to regain my dignity.”

Choice

  • You have a choice. Your choice is how you perceive and interpret challenges, setbacks, and criticism. You can interpret them in a fixed mindset as signs that your selected mindset talents or abilities are limited or lacking. Or you can solve them in a growth mindset as signs that you need to ramp up your strategies and effort. Finally, you’ll stretch yourself, expand your abilities and accept that you’re about to learn something about yourself.

Growth Mindset Voice

  • You can use your growth mindset voice as you approach a challenge; think of the growth mindset answers. This is one of my favourites, and the inner voice sounds like this “I don’t know how I’m going to do this, and I’m going to do it anyway”.  “I’m not sure I can do it now, but I think I can learn to with time and effort”.  “Most successful people had failures along the way”.   “If I don’t try, I automatically fail. Where’s the dignity in that?”.  as you face criticism, “This is about responsibility; I can’t fix it. Let me listen—however painful it is– and learn whatever I can.”.

As you take the growth mindset action and remember over time, which voices you listen to becomes your choice. You’ll learn to:

  • Take on a challenge wholeheartedly,
  • Learn from your setbacks and try again
  • Hear and act on a criticism knowing the outcome is now in your hands.

I hope you have an outstanding day.
